Harvest Monday 2/6/12

The first week of February did not bring an abundance of harvests, but enough to feed me some salads.  I would like to thank my garden for encouraging me to eat my veggies on a dreary February Monday, how could I pass up such pretty veggies:

Weekly Totals:
Broccoli:  1.7 oz
Spinach:   0.3 oz
Lettuce:    1.0 oz
Radish:     1.1 oz

Total: 4.1 oz
Year total: 12.2 lbs

To see what others are harvesting check out Harvest Monday at Daphne's Dandelions.

Happy Gardening!

    1. Me too! I miss having tomatoes and cucumbers. However, a lot of times by the time I have them my lettuce has bolted or turned bitter.

    1. Perhaps if we write thank you notes to our gardens and then bury them in the beds, our gardens will appreciate it and grow even better!

  4. I like that line that your garden is encouraging you :-). It also does the same thing to me but I think your garden is encouraging you a lot because I see you are eating raw broccoli and radish - I still can't do that though they are so good to your health to eat raw.

    1. I do like raw broccoli, but only so much raw radish. I've been looking for something else to do with radishes besides put on salads... any suggestions?

  5. Because of the mild winter, we have had veggies, too. I love veggies from my garden. Your salad is mouth-watering.

  6. Julie,

Yes. You can soak your radishes (chopped really small) in vinegar with sugar. Soak it for a while and you will see that it tastes like sweet relishes.

If you want to cook, grate radish. Then, put oil; heat it; put some garlic and some pepper flakes (if you like it bit spicy); put the grated radish, salt, a bit sugar and cook. Cooking will be very very fast.

    I like both the dishes.
